ONE ENTRY PER PERSON. IF THERE ARE DUAL ENTRIES FOR ONE NAME, YOU'RE ELIMINATED!
Please complete a bracket online in a timely manner. Cutoff times are listed on this site.
For the first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament, we will use the picks made ONLINE (DO NOT SEND ME YOUR PICKS). After two rounds, the top 16 contestants will advance to our Sweet 16. They will be seeded and paired off accordingly for the elimination portion of the contest.
The contest then moves to the newspaper. Your online selections for the third round and beyond mean nothing. THIS IS WHEN YOU BEGIN TO SEND PICKS
The top 16 spots will be earned based on the following:
Total points (see scoring chart below)
Highest (worst) winning seed chosen in first two rounds
1 point for each correct pick in first round
2 points for each correct pick in second round
Once the elimination portion begins, it's a round-by-round competition.
The No. 1 seed will face No. 16 and so on.
4 points for each correct pick in third round
8 points for each correct pick in quarterfinal round
12 points for each correct pick in semifinals
16 points for picking winner of title game
NOTE: If you make the Top 16, BE PREPARED TO SEND IN A PICTURE OF YOURSELF FOR THE PAPER ASAP. WE WILL ALSO NEED YOUR PICKS FOR THE SWEET 16 round by e-mail.
Sweet 16: Should competitors choose the same amount of winners, the tiebreaker in this round will go to the player who picked the biggest upset correctly (highest winning seed). The next tiebreaker will go to the highest-seeded player since they will have more points, more wins or will have selected the biggest upsets in the tournament.
In the Elite 8, the tiebreakers are: Total points, overall wins, highest winning seed correctly picked in this round, highest seeded competitor in the bracket.
For the Final 4 and the championships game, the first tiebreaker will be the closest guess to the total points in a specified game. If that is a tie, we'll revert to overall points, overall wins, highest correct upset selection and finally the higher competitor's seed.
The top three finishers will receive prizes.
Thanks and we look forward to your participation.
